ABOUT RICHARD FORDJOUR

My career in IT has spanned a few changes in the IT sector. My background started off supporting physical infrastructure as a 1st line support engineer for DVLA test centres. These skills were invaluable to me as it meant I had to be able to provide phone support to customers that were not tech savvy. I was lucky enough to get promoted and then start to build workstations and servers that got deployed out to the test centres. This gave me more of a grounding in setting up domain controllers and ghosting workstations delving deeper into the Microsoft ecosystem. My career progressed and then I started working in the virtual world building VMWare servers that was used to host virtual servers. The types of servers I built included Exchange, SQL, DNS, DHCP and IIS. This exposed me to a more of a DevOps culture before DevOps was a thing. the requirement for virtual environments meant we needed to build quickly and consistently. I start to see the power of automation, which lead me to my next role where the mantra was automate everything so started using PowerShell heavily to create bespoke modules and scripts they were used to speed up releases. Our team introduced CI/CD so we got exposes to using SDLC to deploy into multiple environments via pipelines. The next step on the evolution of my career was exposure to Cloud computing and it was a game changer I realised this was where the industry was heading I was lucky enough to secure a roll at Beauty Bay and they were at the beginning of their relationship with AWS so I have been using AWS day in and day out for 4 years until I wanted a new challenge to work with AWS but using serverless architecture and multiple regions hence why I am at Moonpig
