Oss Engineer Vmware Platform Owner Vine Service Owner @Vodafone

I was a service platform environment owner and my responsibilities included• Managing two international VMware farms in Leganes (Spain) and Ratingen (Germany), running vSphere 5.1 which consist of three clusters : production, management and development, and are made up of over 100 RedHat systems, and 40 windows 2008 servers running operation support systems (OSS) applications.• Capacity management and budget planning for these environments. • Liaising with the professional services team (Nokia) who are delivering regular upgrades to these environments for Vodafone. • Working with OSS application support teams to resolve O/S related technical issues.• Handling the RedHat licensing for the VCNO organisation in Vodafone, downloading and installing necessary patches and ISOs as requested by the Nokia and the OSS application support teams. I was also the operations manager for the Vodafone International Information Exchange (VINE) application, which is hosted on a mixture of Solaris, Windows and RedHat systems and uses Oracle SOA suite and Oracle RAC. This mission critical application is used to transfer incidents, service and change requests per month around international Vodafone support teams and vendors. My responsibilities include • Ensuring very high service availability for the VINE3 application by implementing OpenView monitoring, service improvement plans and regular case reviews with the 1st line team who are based in India.• Managing the relationship with the German vendor ASCOM. • Managing and providing technical support for both 1st and 2nd line VINE support teams. • Budgetary control for the 500K+ budget associated with this application. • Managing the complex migration of all participants from the legacy VINE2 system to the new VINE3 system.
