ABOUT RICHARD CRAWSHAY

I\'ve been working for 40+ years in what I guess most would call a portfolio career, this being the label for someone who isn\'t quite sure what they want to be when they grow up! I would characterize all of my roles being a blend of leading and coaching, albeit at different levels and different contexts.I\'m pretty self-aware which can feel like a super-power but I\'m also curious enough to want to learn things and have become an adept quick study. I\'m a confident and articulate communicator who can listen and empathize in equal measure. I\'m more introverted than I appear and culturally sensitive despite my apparent direct nature.I want to make a material difference whether that be at an organizational level or an individual level, preferably both if I\'m being honest. I\'m intuitive and have been known to even be creative but am renowned for being relentless. I have an aptitude for leading change, more so when the challenges are acute rather than chronic but am equally capable in both environments.I value being valued as much as anything else and I\'ve come to realise I\'m not \'coin-operated\'. I thrive in challenging opportunities but quickly tire of sociopathic corporate leadership so who I work for is much more important than what I actually do to a certain extent.I enjoy mentoring especially with individuals who are better than me or have the potential to be better than me and if I can make them better versions of themselves then I feel privileged to have worked with them. I\'m not a qualified coach but believe I have some capability in this area and certainly enjoy working with people in such capacity.I now recognise that work for me is a matter of choice which is perhaps proof of how fortunate I am but I have worked very hard in all of my roles so perhaps I can give myself a break and avoid the ubiquitous faux humility that seems to abound. Finally this is a business network so if you want to connect for the noblest of reasons, not just to sell me something, you only have to ask and who knows we may both benefit from the connection.
