ABOUT RICH CARTWRIGHT

I am the Founder and CTO of Heat Engineer Software Ltd, with over 18 years of experience in the heat pump and renewable energy sector. My career has spanned multiple engineering disciplines, including research and development, project engineering, and business development. Alongside industry roles, I spent six years as a qualified college lecturer in Mechanical and Design Engineering, teaching BTEC levels 2–3, HNC, and foundation degrees.In 2016, I created Heat Engineer Software Ltd, now trusted by over engineers and heating designers across the UK. Our mission is to simplify and accelerate the heat loss calculation and system design process for installers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in an evolving industry. As Director, I continue to lead innovation and development, helping UK installers overcome challenges and streamline the journey from design to installation.My industrial experience includes: • Heat pump technologies: ground source, air source, and biomass • Renewable energy systems: underfloor heating, solar PV, and system integration • Regulatory frameworks: MCS standards, RHI (Ofgem) applications • Technical skills: 3D CAD design, troubleshooting, project management, and training delivery • Professional development: presenting at industry events, organising workshops, and mentoring engineersPassionate about renewable technologies and practical solutions, I combine hands-on engineering knowledge with software innovation to support the UK’s transition to low-carbon heating.
