Brief Overview: Accountable for providing strategic leadership to a team of safety professionals, implementing various safety management systems and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Provide direction and coaching to the team while fostering a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement. Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting, thorough investigations, and quality incident investigation reports from Prime Contractors. Conduct internal safety audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including the WorkSafeBC Compensation Act and OHS regulations. Participate in Prime Contractor Management Safety Inspections and Safety Meetings, delivering FortisBC safety messages and promoting a culture of safety. Oversee risk assessment activities, ensuring that Prime Contractor site supervision conducts thorough assessments and develops job hazard assessments for medium and high-risk activities. Ensure adherence to engineering plans and safety protocols for activities on steep slopes. Liaise with Prime Contractor Health and Safety Manager to review and enhance safety programs. Deliver quality daily and weekly reports to Health and Safety Director, Construction Manager, and Project Manager to provide transparency and accountability in safety management. Ensure the implementation of FortisBC Emergency Response Plan and Prime Contractor Site Specific Emergency Response Plans, conducting periodic emergency drills to test preparedness and response capabilities.
