ABOUT RICHARD BOWKER
R&D Director and Researcher most recently working on Assay Development and Integration projects at an innovative Medical Diagnostics company. I have a wide array of experience and interests in the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology fields, as evidenced by my work in academic and industrial spheres. I have personal responsibility for key projects based on transferring assays onto a novel Diagnostic platform. This involved collating a variety of strands of knowledge and experience to solve specific problems to do with complex multiplex PCR assays. I am well-used to working in a strict regulatory environment and have particular experience with ISO9001 and 13485 systems. I have experience specifically in developing deeply multiplexed, complex assays to do with detecting infectious diseases, and employing innovative techniques to avoid problems that can arise with multiplex PCR based assays.My most recent experience is in integrating rapid Molecular tests onto a proprietary platform for infectious disease diagnosis. I have acquired knowledge of the handling of infectious clinical samples thanks to recent COVID-19 assay development involving CL3 and CL2-based work. This work was made possible by the design and setup of a CL3 facility, for which I was a key stakeholder.My strengths are a broad knowledge base that allows me to solve complex problems, and a methodical approach honed from many years of scientific research. I have most recently been working in the field of PCR-based medical diagnostics, and have experience of assay development, design and integration.
