About Richard Rich Barak
As part of the leadership team at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, I collaborated with editors, producers and reporters daily to develop compelling and essential journalism for our readers and viewers. Growing digital audiences is one of my strengths. Metrics and best practices help guide my decision-making and strategy.I have experience leading daily coverage and long-term projects at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and elsewhere. In 2022 at the AJC, I collaborated with teams across the newsroom when I directed coverage for our sports gambling series in Georgia.I also planned the theme and directed the coverage for our 2022 Atlanta Falcons season preview. Of course, the Braves, University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Atlanta United and the Hawks are also part of the AJC\'s sports offerings, so I am used to a heavy workload. I have experience directing long-form journalism, too. As the manager of the content curation desk at the AJC, I edited stories about Emmett Till, The 1619 Project and reparations. It was an ambitious - and successful - undertaking for a small-but-mighty team.Besides being a strong line editor, project manager, digital producer and metrics analyst, I enjoy mentoring staff members. I pride myself on a positive work environment, with empathy for team members. I also believe our staff and coverage should reflect our ever-changing communities.
