ABOUT RICHARD ALLEN

I started working as a graduate web analyst at The Hut Group in August 2015.I read Engineering Sciences at the University of Oxford, starting in October 2011 and graduated in July 2015. Specialising in Chemical Engineering with courses including equilibrium thermodynamics, fluid flow and heat and mass transfer, materials, chemical processes and control systems. Awarded BP prize for best chemical engineering project for my third year group project on designing a hydrogen producing plant for the use of producing hydrogen peroxide. Also completed a MATLAB project last year on maximising the energy extraction of tidal turbines. In my fourth year I completed a project on carbon dioxide breakthrough sensing for rebreathers.Completed an intern in Shanghai working for Lenovo during the summer of 2014. I worked in the engineering department learning about the manufacturing processes in the factory and compiling reports on how these processes can be improved. I worked in a small team to complete an energy and cost savings analysis for the factory. I also worked with other interns to plan and teach English lessons to the employees in the office and factory.I was Treasurer for the Junior Common Room of my college Lady Margaret Hall at the University of Oxford. The role involved being responsible for the Junior Common Room budget for 450 undergraduates, supporting the president in major decisions and assisting negotiations of room rents on behalf of the Junior Common Room.I regularly participate in sports including rugby and football for my college, being a member of my local golf club and playing badminton socially. I am also an enthusiastic singer and have sang with my college choir and also solo singing, completing my grade 8 singing in school.
