About Richard A. Gilmore
Hired by the John Angelicoussis in 2004 to help start a new company, Maran Gas Maritime, Inc, which he had recently formed to enter the LNG shipping industry. I worked in the charting/commercial side of Maran Gas Maritime where we succeeded in placing the first new-build LNG vessels with RasGas (Qatar). Over the next 18 years, until my retirement at the end of 2021, we grew the company to over 40 LNG vessels (in operation and under construction). These were chartered to several gas majors/utilities. My work included finding employment and negotiating the charters for the vessel. In addition, I coordinated with the technical, operating, training, and HSSE (health safety security and environment) departments to ensure the charters matched up to the vessels\' technical and operating profiles, and to meet the charterer\'s training and safety requirements for the crew and new construction teams. Prior to working for Maran Gas Maritime, I worked 26 years for Energy Transportation Corporation and Energy Transporation Group (ETG). Starting in 1977 as a newly graduated Naval Architect/Marine Engineer, I worked first as an Owner Inspector on LNG vessels under construction for the company. I moved from that role to Maintenance and Repair of the same vessels in operation in the Far East. After getting an MBA, I returned to marketing and vessel finance work looking for new business in LNG projects worldwide. My final job in this role at ETG was to advise the Guandong LNG Project on their ship acquisition and charting for their new LNG Terminal. This resulted in ETG also participating as a shareholder in the new vessels that served the project.
