ABOUT RICHARD ROBINSON
OverviewPerformance-based USAF Veteran and Strategic Product Management Leader with a proven track record in delivering innovative product, operational, and growth strategies resulting in accelerated revenue growth, brand awareness, increased profitability, and operational excellence. A natural leader, adept at ensuring organizational alignment, operational consistency, and the shared brand and product vision across Sales, Marketing, Services, Support, Operations, Channels, and Alliances. My Product Management Philosophy: Very early in “Inspired,” Marty Cagan asserts, “It doesn’t matter how good your engineering team is if they are not given something valuable to build.” Finding something valuable to build is easier said than done. Too often, we rush to add features that our competitors have already deployed. But you never overtake your competition by following them at the same pace they\'re moving. So our valuable thing has to solve a problem for our customers - a problem their current system isn\'t already solving. The best product teams will innovate. Mediocre product teams will follow. I prefer to innovate. My Leadership Style:I’ll work to develop the vision and strategy for the team and then make sure everybody understands that vision and strategy. I support the team as they execute, adapting to give each team member what they need from their manager. For one team member, support can mean lending a hand in a “player-coach” role. Another may need me to remove obstacles like a lead blocker. And sometimes, a team member needs a bit of coaching to nudge them back on course. I believe that if you take care of your team and work with them to keep them moving toward the vision, your probability of success is at its highest.Top strengths (from Clifton Strengths Finder)If you read my Product Management Philosophy and my Leadership Style, you’ll see that they align with my top strengths. The way that I lead flows from my strengths. Let’s set a vision (Strategic and Ideation), mentor and guide the team (Individualization and Relator), and get it done (Achiever).• Strategic - Skilled at finding ways to move forward, quick to see patterns or problems• Individualization - Recognizing each individual\'s unique skills and abilities to maximize team performance• Ideation - Fascinated by new ideas, able to find links between seemingly unrelated phenomena• Relator - Build close relationships, and enjoy working with the team to succeed• Achiever - Hard work and stamina; let\'s get it done!
