About Rich Langston

I have underwritten most products in the supplemental insurance market including life, disability, cancer, accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and heart & stroke policies for the last 30 years. I was the sole underwriter for two years at AHB for an Individual Disability product requiring extensive underwriting. Additionally, I have underwritten direct life in the million dollar range.Currently, I am working with Nationwide\'s self-funded (stop-loss) products. I co-manage a team of 28 underwriters who are responsible for both adding medical loads to new business quotes, processing group submissions once those quotes have been sold, and assessing renewal business. I have also trained both agents and home office colleagues about our products, served as an expert witness at court trials, taught Junior Achievement classes, worked extensively with auditors from state insurance commissions and Medical Information Bureau. I have also served on various wellness teams and employee resource groups. Our purpose is to find ways to keep our employees physically, mentally, and spiritually healthy, enhance careers, and see if there are any other needs we can help with. Currently, I work closely with the Nationwide Cares initiatives. Outside of my career, I serve as a volunteer high school youth Sunday School teacher, curriculum writer, workshop teacher, and event coordinator in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). I am the administrator on four social media websites, served on the Florida Bahamas Synod Bishop\'s Task For new synod wide youth position, and served as the 2024 Youth Gathering Synod Coordinator. I am also president of the Mandarin Lutheran Church Council. Additionally, I serve on the Board Of Directors of the Jacksonville Campus Ministry at the University of North Florida.
