ABOUT RICH KIRK

I have in excess of 20 years experience in the Electrical, Electronics and Communications fields. During this time, I was responsible for the frontline maintenance, scheduled maintenance and retro-fitting of all associated equipment onboard vessels ranging from tonnes to tonnes. As the primary repair technician on board various ships it was my responsibility to ensure that the systems were fully operational and that any equipment failures were safely and expediently rectified. Over this period, I was fundamental in ensuring that all contractual work was completed within the specified time scales, to exacting standards and on budget. I also have considerable experience in the teaching and training area. I was responsible for the training of junior personnel as well as 4 years in the Royal Naval Operational Sea Training School as head of department, where I not only trained national, but international doctrine. Integrated in this was the management of resources, assets, time and personnel. In addition, I was also tasked to do a number of studies into the effectiveness of not just equipment, but training packages, and report on my findings with proposed solutions, a number of which now have been adopted. After leaving the Navy I stayed within my field by working for a number of companies in the maintenance, production and R&D fields before returning to the military as a civilian contractor instructor. In all of the employment that I have had I have had to liaise with not only military and civilian personnel, but outside contractors too. My professionalism and ethics throughout my entire career has allowed me to provide to my employers a high standard of service as well as allow me to progress upwards within the company.I am a member of the Dinwiddie Volunteer Fire and EMS Department (Co 1). I amqualified as an EMT-B (with Attending In Charge clearance) along with Emergency Vehicle Operator Course, Firefighter I & II and HazMat Operations.
