About Rich Hanks
After graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in Industrial Design, Rich began his professional career working in-house at Motorola and Microsoft. This experience gave him unique insight into helping shape and lead a design firm from the client\'s perspective. Because of this valuable point of view, and a unique level of empathy, Rich understands how complicated and difficult it is to make great products and experiences. Presenting a client with a great design can be just the beginning.Rich joined Tactile in 2011. His goal wasn\'t to manage more and design less, but to be both manager and hands-on designer. Rich fills the combined roles of studio head, account manager, and, often, lead designer.In 2018, Rich will lead Tactile\'s new studio in Boston, stepping into the role of Vice President of Design.

Tactile expands its reach as a design firm from coast to coast with the opening of the Boston location. As the head of the studio, I will continue to lead our design team, while developing new opportunities for Tactile. Tactile specializes in developing premium products and experiences across medical, industrial, and consumer industries. We partner with designers and engineers to create meaningful products they can be proud of. As Boston marks an exciting new chapter in Tactile’s story, we’ll continue to search for clients we believe in, and always strive to design products with lasting relevance. I grew up in Massachusetts. It feels good to be back.
