Ricardo Pittella joined Arup in 1997 and is a Principal and structural engineer in the Houston office. He spent most of his 36-year career as a structural engineer and leading a variety of structural and multidisciplinary building projects, including office and residential high-rise buildings, shopping centers, convention centers, laboratories, museums, corporate centers, industrial buildings, and renovations in the United States, as well as in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Ricardo delivers practical solutions to challenging project problems and is passionate about finding opportunities to create sustainable design solutions within the client’s constraints. Ricardo focuses on leveraging digital practices and leads members of his team to collaborate and contribute. Ricardo used to be the structural discipline technical leader for the Americas region before he moved to Brazil to start Arup there in 2010. Since 2016 he is based in Houston leading the Property Business for the Arup South Geography. Ricardo is a studio advisor for the architectural program at Rice University in Houston.
