Before, Wave Financial and Planswell as an engineering manager and senior software developer respectively. Previously at Influitive, while reporting to the CEO, I ran the engineering department of 30 people, 25 developers and 5 QA Analysts. As a former senior software full-stack developer for five years at Influitive, I am well versed in the technical requirements and am able to drive the direction of the technical roadmap. In my short tenure as head of engineering, I am very proud of what I have accomplished. I have increased the team from 20 people to 30. I have created a technical roadmap team to have better insight and handling of technical debt and drive architectural advancements needed to scale our products for the future, have better metrics on performance, and drive the efforts that are required for any future VC funding analysis. It has also improved developer morale and allowed the rest of the team to iterate faster on the product roadmap. I have transitioned our team from a completely flat structure to a \"squad\" structure with each squad having a squad manager, a technical lead, a QA analyst, designer, Product owner, and a team of developers. This has allowed each squad to operate faster with more autonomy and more insight from all involved parties. We have provided training and mentoring for everyone in their leadership roles, and allowed people to work on what they do best, be it technical or management areas.Among the other things I have done is to create a Operation Manager role, that ensures that the entire department is working well and communicating with the rest of the company. I have created a dedicated Technical Architect to ensure all squads work towards common goals and quality. A dedicated squad has also been created to work directly with customer requirements in an agile way to great customer praise.
