ABOUT RIANNE ALMONTASER
Hello! My name is Rianne Almontaser, and I am currently a junior at Hamilton College, double-majoring in sociology and psychology. On campus, I am a peer mentor for the First-Year Peer Mentoring Program and the President of Pretty Tough, a fitness club for women and non-binary students. I love helping incoming students get adjusted to college life and creating safe spaces for them to engage in the activities they are passionate about!I am currently working as a research manager for a 5-year-long sociology research project, studying the effect of environmental policy on farmers in upstate New York, Sweden, and New Zealand. I also design and pilot surveys for the American Sociological Association, as an executive intern to an ASA Section Chair, Professor Jaime Kucinskas. I am a research assistant for Professor Jennifer Borton\'s Social Psychology lab and a department worker for the Hamilton Psychology/Neuroscience Departments. I am also an intern for the Central New York Psychological Association, helping with updating website material and attending board meetings.This summer, I conducted an independent research project under the Sociology Department, interviewing voters on their past experiences with voting and how they can be improved. I will be presenting this research at the Levitt Summer Research Fellows session and the NY6 Undergraduate Research Conference at St. Lawrence University.
