ABOUT RIA RENOUF
Hello and mabuhay! My name is Ria and I am a former major market journalist now working in communications and marketing. I am passionate about working for and with priority populations and do that part-time with the City of New Westminster through its Crises Response Pilot Project. I am also a freelancer with DIVERSEcity BC and have worked on a number of projects for this amazing charity; this includes organizing the \"Grow, Lead, Bloom\" Women\'s Leadership Forum in 2025. From time to time I take care of new media, marketing and communications initiatives for them under the DIVERSEtalks brand. I am well-versed in developing marketing plans, strategies, key messaging and social media assets to efficiently share information about initiatives. I am able to transpose these plans for a wide range of audiences. I also have experience in crisis communications, informed by more than a decade of working in broadcast journalism. My career as a journalist included seven award nominations for my work. I won three: two Edward R. Murrows and an RTDNA for my anchoring and writing at CityNews 1130 in Vancouver. I have also worked for Global News/Global BC/CKNW. I still contribute to journalistic pursuits from time to time, and mainly in a volunteer capacity. I run The Sturgeon, a FREE community publication serving New Westminster. I have also served as a judge for a number of journalism awards, including the National Newspaper Awards. My training in sociology and anthropology has been instrumental in the way I share stories, and what started off as a degree has morphed into building the tools and skills needed to be able to share other people\'s stories with their permission, among other principles I hold closely.
