On my first day I found the plant was 2.5 days behind in production, quality extremely poor, and a “top 20” customer had submitted their cancellation notice. I quickly ascertained that the plant had to be totally re-engineered to start the turnaround process. We promoted 6 members with the attitude and spirit we needed to Team Leaders. These Team Leaders agreed to be responsible for everything in their departments including quality, labor utilization, productivity, training, and moving people between departments to match workflow. We provided the Team Leaders leadership training; all employees received quality training and were empowered to make decisions. We completely changed the culture making the business unit a standard for innovation and performance resulting in the production facility being #1 or #2 in the company for costs, quality, and customer satisfaction scores.\"This was only one segment of the turnaround.\"Email: H••••••••@comcast.netCell: 61••••••16
