About Rhea Harish
As a Junior Genetic Counsellor at NCGM Global, I apply my MS in Genetic Counseling and my skills in laboratory and in-silico techniques to provide personalized and compassionate care to patients with genetic disorders. I work with a multidisciplinary team of experts to conduct genetic testing, interpret results, and communicate findings and implications to patients and families. I also contribute to research projects that aim to advance the field of medical genetics and improve health outcomes. I am passionate about raising awareness and promoting health equity for genetic counseling in India, where the profession is still emerging and underrepresented. I leverage my domain expertise in genomics, molecular biology, and psychology, as well as my experience as a Genetic Counseling and Research Intern at Narayana Nethralaya Eye Hospital, to educate and empower patients and communities about the benefits and challenges of genetic testing and counseling. I also blog about mental health and advocate for destigmatizing and supporting people with mental health issues. My major career goal is to help lay a robust foundation for genetic counseling in India and make a positive impact on the lives of people with genetic conditions.
