Host @Technically Compliant
Toronto, ON, CA
Technically Compliant is the podcast where CTOs drop the corporate speak and talk about what privacy compliance really looks like when you\'re building products, managing legacy systems, and trying to plow through mountains of vendor assessment forms.Hosted by me, each episode features honest conversations with CTOs who\'ve been in the trenches—the ones who\'ve retrofitted privacy into monoliths held together with duct tape, survived their first DSAR that took a dev lead out for hours, or had the foresight to build products that brought Privacy by Design in early. No vendor pitches. No legal lectures. Just real problems, real solutions, and real talk about the messy intersection of privacy law and production systems.

ABOUT ROSS SAUNDERS
The Nerd with Trust IssuesI am a multifaceted specialist that has been steeped in the worlds of technology, software, privacy, and information security for over 20 years. My background includes time served on the calldesk, in infrastructure teams, software development, DevOps (before it was DevOps), and tech leadership across a myriad of teams for multinationals. For the last decade, I’ve been training and consulting in Privacy and Cybersecurity (PrivSec) governance, with a deep specialization in the technical nitty-gritty of privacy for B2B and B2C software. Fires I put out:• Putting controls in dev to keep the from the fan in the first place.• Bridging the gap between the privacy office and the dev team.• Translating legal requirements for dev teams, without the disruption.• Showing Tech Leaders their blind spots in terms of PrivSec.• Embedding PrivSec in the SDLC at all stages.• Assessing maturity and gaps in the dev team.• Preventing devs being bogged down with pointless compliance issues.• Building common sense roadmaps that are the right fit for your size and operations. Why me:• Understanding Dev (and Developers): I have worked in software for decades, I speak SaaS fluently, and I know how fast-paced these environments can be.• Understanding Tech: Prior to dev I worked in infrastructure, with experience in datacentres, cloud, networking, and security. I’ve done my time in the wee hours of the morning tracing packets and catching colds in DCs!• Understanding Management: I have served on Executive teams, I have written a book on management, and my master’s thesis details an end-to-end productization of a governance software product in a startup as the head of product. I’ve been there and have several t-shirts.• Understanding Governance: Roll all the above into a love for governance, a passion for PRACTICAL compliance with regulations, and an enjoyment (yes, really) of the legal side of tech, and you’ve got my unique skillset in translating requirements from legal while advocating for the dev team.🧯 What services do I offer:• Entertaining keynotes and talks on PrivSec• Practical training for your dev and tech exec teams on PrivSec.• Niche governance consulting for medium to large software enterprises and dev teams.• Maturity and threat assessments for dev.• Tech and Cloud strat and governance for small and startup businesses (through my IT company, Gotaminute IT Services)• Soft-skill training for newly promoted managers in tech (through my training company, This is NOT What I Signed Up For)
