Rachel began her love for helping others and service learning early on. As an undergrad, she thrived on service learning opportunities and grew in her leadership skills through her involvement with V-Day which produced The Vagina Monologues; Habitat for Humanity on campus; and helping present the Senior Class Gift Fund to the President of Coe College. Rachel worked as a Resident Assistant for 2 years and additionally worked in the admissions office remaining there for her senior year work study. Her public speaking, practiced through Job\'s Daughters International, was honed giving tours to prospective students and their families. As an alum, Rachel served for 10 years as the Class of 2004 Representative, soliciting news from her peers and writing a twice yearly newsletter to be sent through Coe to her classmates. Though the program ended, she maintains a Facebook group for her class and was called on to be a challenge leader for the inaugural #KohawkDay of Giving 2015.In graduate school, Rachel gained work experience at practicums with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and mental health service agencies; while maintaining part-time employment. Upon graduation, she moved to southeast Alaska where she served as a mental health clinician for a community behavioral health agency on a remote island. When the agency closed its doors in 2009, she relocated to Anchorage and then finally back to southeast in September 2010 where she has worked continuously at JAMHI Health and Wellness, Inc. since. She maintains active volunteer involvement while remaining engaged with NASW AK.
