As a Small Group Fellow, I participated weekly in peer coordinated meetings designed to prepare and explore themes of Christianity in relation to daily life. It is an academically engaging activity and culminates annually at the Large Group Senior Showcase where I had the pleasure of meeting members of Small Group Fellows from other campuses based in New York.

ABOUT RIDA AKHLAQ
Hello everyone!Currently, I am an undergraduate student at Hunter College with a major in Biological Sciences and minor in Psychology, in the Yalow Honors Scholar and Eva Kastan Grove Scholar programs.Soon, I will be an MD/PHD/MPH that can bridge the gap between what patients say and what doctors hear through clear communication and breaking down any potential barriers to their care not limited to language, cultural, or geographical ones.I am interested in Narrative Medicine and the Medical Humanities. As part of this, I worked on a project promoting COVID-19 awareness through the use of poetry during quarantine. For me, the power of literature is not to be overlooked when facing illness, and communication is a clear part of healing. I am passionate about health equity and helping to dismantle systems that perpetuate injustices whether that be through health policy or helping community health leaders. I also hope to study and prevent the growing effects of climate change on populations across the globe. With the advent of global warming, waterborne diseases are only more likely to spread as are new zoonoses. I aspire to target and to research these changes in order to assist people all around the world live longer, healthier, and happier lives! After all, we are all part of humanity\'s future. In my mission to do so I became president of my school\'s CMMB x Hunter Chapter.
