ABOUT ANDY REYNOLDS
I stand for collaborative whole-system solutions to the complex issues that threaten our collective future. I believe each of us bears a personal responsibility to choose to make sacrifices when our loss is outweighed by the gains of many. In my third career, as an entrepreneur, I have become deeply interested in raw materials, where the intersection of heavy industry and communities is complex and conflicted. I want to make a difference in that space through inclusive design processes, collaborative business models and post-colonial governance models. Inspire Resources™ is the company I founded in 2019 to advance these ideas with a mining focus. It is my conviction that the engineering profession serves society, not vice versa. In recent years I have lost confidence that engineering associations in Canada share this belief in practice, and I have therefore with sadness resigned my Professional Engineer license as of Dec 2025. I remain a UK Chartered Engineer and member of the IMechE, but I am not licensed to practise engineering in Canada. Authors and scholars who have had greatest influence on me include Peter Senge, John Elkington, Ernest Shackleton, Peter Korn, Romeo Dallaire, Kate Raworth, Yanis Varoufakis, Bent Flyvbjerg, Dan Davies, Carliss Baldwin, Richard De Neufville and David Mosey. I am also indebted to Kyle Pearce, my conspirator in Inspire Resources, who continues to open my mind to much deeper consideration of human interaction in a world of power imbalance.
