   I have thirty years of experience representing employers in labor and employment matters, including litigation, government agency investigations, collective bargaining, and union organizing drives. I am currently employed as a partner with Jackson Lewis’ Miami office. My practice focuses on working with claims management companies and employment practices liability insurance companies to defend employers against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. In this regard, I directly handle or oversee litigation throughout the country that involves many different industries, including fire departments, hospice care facilities, and other private and public sector entities. I also defend wage and hour issues arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage laws. The wage and hour issues I regularly handle for companies include litigation defense, overtime exemptions, tip credit analysis, minimum wage matters, conversion of independent contractors to employee status, and Department of Labor investigations. I have a broad range of clients in many industries but my wage and hour practice concentrates in the area of hospitality, which includes restaurants, gentlemen\'s clubs, bars and nightclubs, as well as hotels and resorts. I currently serve on the board of the Association of Club Executives and act as an advisory attorney to the Association\'s Board of Directors. My experience includes:* Defended fire department in a discharged firefighter\'s lawsuit claiming constitutional violations and defamation* Defended hospice care facility in a discharged employee\'s lawsuit alleging FMLA violations * Represented employers in overtime and minimum wage class actions * Represented gentlemen\'s clubs in converting entertainers from independent contractor to employee business model* Formulated and directed labor campaign strategy for employer in a union election* Served as a chief negotiator for national employer in collective bargaining
