As a Graduate Engineer at Simpson Coulson Ltd, my day to day tasks include writing reports for site investigations, annual surveys, chloride test interpretive reports, FEED Study reports etc. These reports are mainly for various jetties, wharves and quays near to the River Tees. My responsibilities include designing and sometimes detailing of small structures and providing solutions to various issues in these structures for their continued use.One major structure recently designed by me includes a workshop shed of 27m x 27m with crane beams, and two mezzanine floors with heavy loads. This structure was designed as per British standards.My other duties are analysing and assessment of cranes at decks for heavy lifting loads for their suitability to be used. I have also carried out mooring studies for ships.
