I am a specialist data protection lawyer; a partner in the top tier Data & Privacy team at Fieldfisher. My data protection expertise includes international compliance projects, the \"internet of things\", Big Data and analytics, digi-Health and medical devices, privacy impact assessments, cross border data flows, data breach response and disputes around subject access. I also advise on issues arising from various commercial deals: cloud acquisitions, outsourcings, Apps and New Media, R&D and development, as well as many types of commercial arrangements with a data or intellectual property element across many sectors. Prior to becoming a solicitor, I worked for five years as a software engineer at Logica, a major independent UK software house, where he was engaged in designing, programming and testing complex software applications (primarily in an UNIX/C environment).I have written a book on the law of cloud computing: Cloud Computing: A Practical Introduction to the Legal Issues, the second edition of which was published by BSI in April 2015. I am on the IAPP faculty of trainers for CIPP/E. I hold CIPT and am a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
