About Renzo Perales
Translational immunologist and senior/principal-level scientist with 10+ years advancing immune-based therapies from discovery to early clinical development. I lead biomarker strategy and fit-for-purpose assay development and validation across clinical-phase programs—building standardized, reproducible workflows that inform dose selection, patient response, and translational decision-making.My work spans T-cell biology, tumor microenvironment, and vaccine/cell therapy immunology, with deep expertise in multiparametric flow/ICS, ELISpot/ELISA (including multiplex platforms), potency and immunogenicity assays, and in vivo/ex vivo models. I’ve driven IND-supportive data packages, contributed to Investigator Brochures and FDA meeting responses, and partnered closely with Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and CRO/CDMOs to deliver decision-grade translational data.Highlights include leading immune monitoring and biomarker discovery for personalized cancer vaccine trials (Nature Medicine 2024; Nature Cancer in press, 2026). Built and optimized T-cell functional assays and engineered patient-derived T-cell clones to elucidate mechanism of action and correlates of response. Mentored and grew teams, refined QC/QA processes, and created assay transfer frameworks that scale across sites.Interests: Immuno-oncology, vaccine immunology, cell & gene therapy; biomarker strategy; clinical assay deployment; CDx collaborations. Keywords: Translational Immunology, Immuno-Oncology, Biomarkers, Immunogenicity, Fit-for-Purpose Validation, IND/IB, Flow Cytometry/ICS, ELISpot/ELISA, T-cell Biology, Potency Assays, CRO/CDMO Oversight, CDx, Nature Medicine 2024.
