About Ren Rigby
Ren Rigby (formerly known as Mike Rigby) is an internationally acclaimed multidisciplinary designer, educator, and activist based in NYC. They see design as a positive, transformational force that can drive business, shape culture, and improve lives. As the Founder and Chief Design Officer of design and innovation company, Proto, Ren is dedicated to advancing people. Much of their work and activism center around the climate crisis and social justice, with specific emphasis on promoting equal rights for the transgender community. Formerly the Global Head of Design at R/GA in NYC, Ren led major design projects for clients such as Nike, Google, Shopify, The Cooper Hewitt, Covenant House Homeless Youth Charity, and various startups. Their professional experience also includes senior positions at prestigious firms like Pentagram, The Chase, Landor, and Interbrand. Ren\'s work has been awarded at all of the major shows including D & AD and Cannes, where they have also served as a judge and keynote speaker. In 2024 they will judge The Cannes Glass Lion, which recognises work that addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice. Ren teaches at the master\'s program at the esteemed School of Visual Arts in NYC and regularly lectures worldwide. In addition to their accolades and educational contributions, Ren\'s work has played a pivotal role in transforming numerous businesses, cultural institutions, and charities. One of their proudest achievements is helping to raise over $350 million for age-related diseases through their work with Alzheimer’s Australia. Ren is proud to serve the board of directors of green biotech company, Evolved By Nature, alongside Roy Disney Junior, and Dan Craft. EBN is a purpose lead company tackling the climate crises through revolutionary green chemistry. Ren is also the former Chair of the Australian Graphic Design Association.
