On a project basis with OCADU Co, I apply a human-centered design thinking process to conduct expert evaluations, develop product design strategies, create inclusive design programs, and facilitate co-creation workshops. Key projects include: 1. Design Critiques: In partnership with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), I\'ve worked with over 80 IRAP clients in the past 7 years. These critiques help businesses enhance their product offerings by providing expert feedback and actionable insights, ultimately improving customer satisfaction and market competitiveness.2. Initiation, pilot and execution of an Inclusive Design Program which included:a) Foundations of Inclusive Design: This session helps clients build a foundational understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion. It covers the diversity of user needs and uses case studies to demonstrate how products that do not consider diversity can prevent users from accessing essential aspects of products and services.b) Inclusive Design Evaluation: Four design activity-based presentation and workshop sessions. One session includes an evaluation of the client\'s product or service to help them understand the diversity of user needs. Specific recommendations are provided to the client/team to increase accessibility, along with a detailed report outlining best practices, methods, and standards for implementing inclusive design.3. Ethnographic Studies of Client Practices: Longitudinal projects which involve interviews and observations to understand workflows, team processes, and decision-making practices within client teams. Studies of this nature have aimed to map core processes and identify critical data and decision-making linkages. Outcomes have included recommendations on initiatives, tools, and processes to enable efficiency for key decisions.

ABOUT RENN SCOTT

Open to new roles — fractional, project-based, and collaborative partnershipsI’m a senior design leader specializing in research-informed product and service strategy, helping teams create inclusive, human-centered, and community-focused experiences that drive real impact in emerging technology. I also coach and mentor teams and leaders, building high-performing, adaptable, and human-centered cultures. With 15+ years leading multidisciplinary teams, I combine a foundation in human-centered and inclusive design (Royal College of Art) with deep expertise in IP strategy, innovation, and product leadership, delivering products, services, and platforms that are intuitive, trustworthy, and future-ready.I’ve led high-performing product and UX teams across financial services, AI-enabled platforms, enterprise technology, and wearable technology, working on enterprise software, smart textiles, medical devices, and transportation systems. My focus is on translating complex systems into research-informed, scalable experiences that foster trust, surface insight, and connect people meaningfully.Much of my work sits at the intersection of emerging technologies and human-centered systems design—from developing smart textile interfaces to guiding organizations through inclusive innovation, product strategy, and IP development. I focus on applying new tools and platforms to create meaningful, market-ready experiences that anticipate change, support long-term wellbeing, and advance equity and adaptability.Through my independent practice, Daily Goods Design LABS, I’ve partnered with organizations across AI, financial services, sports tech, smart textiles, and digital health, combining research, strategy, accessibility, emerging technology, and IP expertise to bring human-centered products to life.I’ve facilitated workshops and public activations for youth innovators, women’s initiatives and entrepreneurship programs, and community-centered design efforts, and I take pride in coaching emerging designers, strategists, and innovation leaders. I hold 200+ patents, and my work has been featured in global design festivals, podcasts, and publications. My proudest moments come from mentoring emerging talent, elevating underrepresented voices, and building bridges between people who didn’t know they needed each other—until they met.If you’re building a product, service, or platform grounded in empathy, trust, and human impact, I’d love to help shape what comes next.
