I see consults and care for patients while the physician is away from the bedside. I handle the day-to-day care as well as urgent & emergent care of my assigned patients. I have trained other Advanced Practice Professionals to the surgical service. I hold a CWS®certification in wound care. Additionally, I have experience in Emergency & Hospital medicine as well as in Trauma and Acute care surgery, Wound care and Oncology. I have been a NP since 2005. I have been able to participate in scholarly research, present at a national conference, taught undergraduate and graduate nursing students, worked with EPIC & Cerner EMR teams and as a Cerner Coach to help colleagues use the EMR to it\'s fullest capabilities. I am currently working with a small group to develop the first Advanced Practice Council at Mary Washington Health to support the growing number of APP\'s in the environment.I work with the Physician Informatics Council to help the health system develop the EPIC EMR for best use at Mary Washington Health. Additionally, I sit on a communications committee within EPIC to help drive solutions to issues with communications between providers and nursing staff. I was elected sit on the Mary Washington Medical Group Provider Advisory Council to help drive health system policy and direction from the perspective of the providers. I have excellent clinical, interpersonal & organizational skills. I can talk to anyone; in prepared formal presentations to on the fly, anywhere, any place, any time. I enjoy formal and informal teaching as well. I previously worked as an entry-level pharmaceutical sales representative before I decided to return to school to pursue a clinical career. I am a flexible, quick study with a passion for teaching. This could be with nursing or NP students to nurse and physician colleagues to my patients and their families. I am participating with the Medicine residents as they began rotations at Mary Washington July 2023 and with surgical residents who began in 2024. I collaborate with and lead interdisciplinary teams for patient care. I am a team player with skills that cross multiple disciplines.
