ABOUT RENEE LYNN GAGNE

I have enjoyed working in a variety of fields during my career journey from real estate to retail to pharmacy to biotechnology. Biotechnology is the field that I am the most passionate about. My work as an intern at Jackson Laboratories in hematopoetic stem cell research exposed me to techniques used in molecular biology. Here I discovered my zest for analyzing scientific unknowns and designing experiments. This enthusiasm lead me to begin my career as an associate scientist in the Water Microbiology department at IDEXX Laboratories. Early in my career, I completed Lean Six Sigma and ISO Internal auditor training. I managed a long term effort to standardize our technical support work-flows and communication process. From there I became a technical lead for the development of the Quanti-tray Sealer Plus that is used to create water test samples for easy quantitative analysis. Troubleshooting and developing this product helped me learn new engineering and experimental skills that I realized I was very passionate about. Following a successful product launch, I transferred to the IDEXX Companion Animal Group in the Systems Chemistry Engineering department. We work as a consulting group for integration of new assays into our current veterinary analyzer suite. This includes a myriad of projects including developing user best practices during software development, coordinating engineering initiatives, optimization of algorithms for error detection, big data manipulation, developing methods for statistical analysis, cross functional coordination for functional optimization, manufacturing scale up, knowledge transfer, mentorship and managing staff. I look forward to continuously learning about the veterinary field and applying Systems methodology to the challenges of assay integration.
