About Remmington Belford
As National Director of Communications for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), I lead strategic communications to amplify the organization’s mission of expanding access to higher education for Black students. In this role, I advocate for equitable education policies and work to elevate the voices of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and minority-serving institutions (MSIs) on a national scale. Education has always been at the core of my work, and this position allows me to continue shaping narratives that drive impact and ensure that Black students have the resources and opportunities they deserve. Previously, I served as Press Secretary for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Biden-Harris Administration, where I led high-profile public affairs initiatives, advancing the agency’s commitments to environmental justice, public health, and equity. Before that, my Capitol Hill experience included serving as Deputy Chief of Staff to Congresswomen Emilia Sykes (OH-13) and l Communications Director for Congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX-18) and Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) managing national messaging on transformative legislative efforts, particularly in education policy and social justice. I was also privileged to serve as Director of Communications for the Congressional Black Caucus, where I worked to ensure the historic allocation of funding for HBCUs was communicated effectively and championed policies that uplift marginalized communities. Beyond my professional roles, I am deeply committed to supporting Black queer students in higher education. As Vice President of the Board for the Black, Gifted & Whole Foundation, I help lead efforts to provide scholarships and opportunities for Black queer men, by Black queer men, ensuring they have the financial support and freedom that accompany a quality education. Throughout my career, I have been driven by a passion for leveraging communications as a tool for equity, advocacy, and change. Whether shaping national policy discussions, championing environmental justice, or ensuring that Black students have access to higher education, I remain committed to using my voice to create lasting impact. Let’s connect—I’m always looking to collaborate on transformative projects and initiatives.
