ABOUT REMCO SCHUURBIERS
REMCO SCHUURBIERS Born in the Netherlands, lives and works in Berlin since 1998. Independent Curator & Multidisciplinary Artist (photography, video, installations, A/V productions, dj) Studied Photographic Design at Royal Art Academy (KABK) and Interdisciplinary Arts at Interfaculty Image and Sound (Art Science), Royal Conservatorium, The Hague, The Netherlands. In Schuurbiers co-founded Berlin´s CTM festival – international festival for adventurous music and related visual arts and acts as festival co-director and curator since then. 2007 he started as a program director for TodaysArt in The Hague (NL). Since 2004 he is involved with the project space General Public in Berlin and functions as one of the organizers of Disk Sessions - a series of sound performances by artists engaged in the exploration of the acoustic realm - irregularly presented at the project space. In 2001 he co-founded The art of pingpongcountry, a popular event with people playing ping-pong and listening to country music, that has travelled worldwide. Since he worked on various film and theatre projects with Ivan Stanev and since 1998 he works with several musicians such as Huib Emmer, Radboud Mens, Anne laBerge with live video projections. Schuurbiers’ artistic projects have been presented for the past decade in galleries and institutions and at festivals in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Lithuania, Poland, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, Brasil amongst others.
