Social Justice Origin Stories is a storytelling project that features personal stories and defining moments that have inspired individuals and organizations to work for equity and social justice. Through truth-telling: the honest sharing of their experiences, storytellers teach us about themselves, enabling us to learn about ourselves and our world through their stories. Sharing stories that inspire action.https://socialjusticeoriginstories.com/Strategic Leadership & Project Management: Lead the creative direction, conceptualizing and developing engaging episode themes and content aligned with the mission of connecting people across experiences and sharing stories that inspire action. Manage all administrative aspects of the project to ensure a consistent release schedule. Analyze listener feedback to continuously improve the experience. Interviewing and Hosting: Conduct in-depth, empathetic interviews with a variety of guests, using appreciative inquiry to draw out compelling stories and insights into their paths toward advocacy and activism.Editing and Production: Manage the complete production process, including recording, editing, and mixing episodes to ensure high-quality audio and video content delivery. Marketing and Promotion: Design and implement communication and promotional strategies across various platforms, significantly increasing the podcast’s visibility and listener engagement. Network Building: Cultivate a broad network of contacts across communities and sectors for guest sourcing, collaboration, and expanding the project’s influence and reach.

ABOUT RELANDO THOMPKINS-JONES
I am a Macro Social Worker and Social Justice Educator who works with individuals, groups, and organizations to build more equitable and inclusive communities by lessening the distance between who they say they are, and how those words are felt by the people who live, work, and play in those communities based on the conditions they experience. A strong theme of cultural humility and responsiveness remains present in my work. I have worked with client partners across industries including public, private, and non-profit organizations planning and implementing experiential activities and projects that advance diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. I believe that the future belongs to institutions that believe that they have a responsibility to remove barriers set in place by systems of oppression and create the conditions for community members to thrive and not merely survive. Employee success and retention programs, affinity spaces, and equity officers cannot do it alone and require the partnership of all areas of institutions to transform them and eliminate the disparate outcomes that we are up against. That transformation must include an unshakeable belief that the safety and viability of the broader society we serve as a public good is only as secure as the safety and success of its most vulnerable community members. This belief is actualized and reinforced through an intentional focus on equity that is intersectional and therefore better able to address how multiple systems of oppression work together. I have committed myself to work in partnership with others to do equity work that centers the marginalized, thereby improving the whole of society. I look forward to partnering with you.
