As the Breath Coach for the San Diego Padres, I work in the clubhouse directly with players, coaches, and the medical staff to integrate functional breathing techniques into the team’s performance, recovery, and mindset routines. My role focuses on- Performance Activation & Mental Focus: Breath-led nervous system priming and visualization techniques to enhance focus, composure, and readiness-Customized Breath Protocols for In-Game Application: Designing and adapting individualized breathing practices that athletes can implement in real-time to regulate state, focus, and recovery based on the demands of the moment- Recovery & Nervous System Regulation: Downregulation practices to support rest, sleep, and physical recovery post-game or training- Breathing Mechanics & Functional Assessment: One-on-one assessments to improve respiratory efficiency, posture, and movement through breath training- Breath Hold & Control Work: Techniques to expand breath capacity, enhance endurance, and build resilience under physical and mental stress.Sessions range from individual work with players to small group sessions and coach engagement. My work is rooted in helping players shift from overthinking to embodied presence, while also addressing common dysfunctional breathing patterns that affect both performance and recovery. I collaborate closely with the training staff and was brought in through a long-standing relationship with pitcher Joe Musgrove and the team’s head physical therapist.This work is ongoing and evolving, with the aim of building deeper integration and programming over time.
