ABOUT REINHARD MENSE
How we build analytical data solutions must change.Data Warehouse projects still take months. Teams spend most of their time on data modeling, ETL development, and orchestration. What is sold as \"Data Warehouse Automation\" today automates fragments, not the full picture. Rethinking Data Warehouse AutomationI am working on a product with a clear vision: fully automate analytical data solutions. Define business objects, relationships, and KPIs at the conceptual level, and let everything downstream be derived automatically. No manual data modeling. No hand-written ETL.This conviction comes from over 25 years in data warehousing and BI. I co-founded areto consulting, built a DWH automation product at yotilla, and brought it to market at Exasol after the acquisition. Each step reinforced the same insight: the real bottleneck is not technology, it is how we approach the problem. Helping Data Warehouse Teams spot issues earlyBeyond that, I do architecture reviews and workshops for Data Warehouse Teams. Whether you are building a new Data Warehouse or reviewing an existing one, most problems in this space are architectural. They start small and compound over time, until they turn into expensive rewrites or performance bottlenecks.SQL is a personal passion of mine, which is why I also run sql4dataengineers.com (or simply sql4de.com).On this profile, I share my thinking on data architecture, automation, and the decisions that shape analytical data solutions.
