ABOUT REI HORST

I am a fierce lover of people dedicated to dignity in service with a focus on expanding system-wide solutions to serve people in crisis. The genesis of mycareer is rooted in leadership of a county-wide coordinated entry program for people experiencing homelessness where I worked with policymakers and community organizations to redesign a more collaborative, responsive, and effective shelter system.In partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council and Arc Skoru, I developed a rating system for emergency shelters that promotes whole-system thinking and standardization in both physical design and service implementation to ensure higher quality of living. I led successful field organizing operations for 2020 presidential, state, and local political campaigns in the tipping-point city of Philadelphia. I then launched The Defensive Line with its Co-Founders and served as Executive Director to provide equitable suicide prevention programs and support the transformation of unimaginable pain of suicide loss into stories of purposeful lived expertise.I now serve as Vice President, Strategic Impact for Vibrant Emotional Health, the administrator of the 988 and Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, where I lead program implementation strategy, drive business and partnership development, and oversee Vibrant’s Center for Learning and Development, Community Engagement, and Partnership and Program Impact departments.
