About Reginald Ellis
As Dean in the Office of Graduate Education at Clark Atlanta University, I collaboration with the school deans and department chairs, advises and consult with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, on matters of graduate academic programming, policy decisions, program development, funding, and administration of graduate education. I also ensure the general well-being of graduate students with respect to their graduate standing, Academic Standards and Requirements, and assist in the assignment of graduate research fellowships and teaching assistantships. Finally, I work in conjunction with academic partners to establish new policies and graduate programs are appropriately approved by entities described in the CAU Graduate Handbook. Prior to arriving at CAU, I served As an Associate Professor of History and African American Studies at Florida A&M University, where I taught and researched for over 16 years, sharing my passion and knowledge of American and African American history, political history, public history, and oral history with undergraduate and graduate students. I have a Ph.D in History from the University of Memphis and a Master of Applied Social Sciences from Florida A&M University, and I have participated in prestigious programs and institutes, such as the NEH Summer Institute at Harvard University in 2013. In addition to my academic role, I also serve as the President of RDERA Consultants, LLC, a full service historical consultant firm that I Founded in 2023. We specialize in providing historical services, such as oral history interviews, historical research, archiving historical documents, company historical profiles, lecture presentations, and course content, to various clients and organizations. We are currently building course content for the state of Florida\'s initiative on African American History. My goal is to use my expertise and skills as a historian to educate, inform, and engage the public on the rich and diverse history of Florida and beyond.
