Designed a Jazz Studies Curriculum for High School Students to include Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble (Combo), Jazz Tech (Theory and Improvisation), and Jazz History-Jazz Combo – Teach students about small jazz ensemble literature, development of relevant styles, and improvisational techniques-Jazz Orchestra - Provide students with an understanding of big band music from the 30s to present day using listening examples, demonstration, and rigorous rehearsals-Jazz Tech/Theory – Help students understand improvisation through transcribing, chord scales, jazz language, phrasing, analysis, and harmonic concepts-Jazz History – Expose students to important musicians and events throughout the history of jazz-Composition – Prepare students for the annual composition recital by teaching compositional techniques (melody, counterpoint, harmony, lyrics, and orchestration)-Producer – Produce the annual Jazz City concert at Duke Ellington School of the Arts-Curator – Select artists for masterclasses and performances-Partnerships – Facilitate partnerships with community organizations.
