Responsible for teaching primarily 10th grade students the principles of personal finance and economics. What we teach:• Banking• Taxes• Housing (Renting vs. Home Ownership• Car Buying (Owning vs. Leasing)• Credit• Money Management• Insurance and Investing• College Choices• Game of Choices -(teaches students what type of jobs the student will likely get based on their current grade and the expenses that will incur based on the annual income that they may have)• JA Finance Park - Field trip to library set up by Capital One where the students learn from finance experts about life choices as well as students get to go around to stations with sample debit cards and will have experiences thrown at them based on income and if they have families and spouses assigned to them. Students are prepared from the beginning of the school year all the way until spring to take the W!se test which is mandated for our students to pass and become certified. Students that do not pass will continue to remediate and retake the W!se test all the way through their senior year as it is a graduation requirement. Once testing is completed in the springtime the students are then introduced to Economics and are given a series of different activities, such as EdPuzzles, Econ Lowdown and other software utilized in classroom activities.
