ABOUT ROBERT-ERIC GASKELL

Robert-Eric Gaskell is an experienced audio professional and leader in the field of graphene acoustics. He has worked in audio product design, research, and development for a quarter of a century starting with AEA in Pasadena designing ribbon microphones, microphone preamplifiers and stereo microphone positioners to now as Co-Founder and VP Product of Ora Graphene Audio Inc. Dr. Gaskell has several patents including the core patent for Ora’s graphene loudspeaker membrane technology. In addition to his work with audio electronics, Dr. Gaskell has a strong background as a recording engineer including a Juno Award winning recording of Angela Hewitt, work recording the original score for the Oscar nominated film “Manchester by the Sea”, time at the Aspen Music Festival recording classical music giants Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Edgar Meyer, the Emmerson String Quartet, and more. He has had a long and multifaceted career including many years as a forensic audio expert, time playing bass in the band that would become “Clap Your Hands Say Yeah”, and experience doing live sound for two US Presidents and the Dalai Lama. Dr. Gaskell holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sound Recording from McGill University and a B.A. in Music Technology and in Psychology from Connecticut College. He is an active member of the AES. He continues to teach as a faculty member in McGill’s Sound Recording program and to develop cutting edge graphene solutions with his company, Ora.
