ABOUT REENA SHAKYA
I am Reena Shakya, founder of Neev Shiksha Jankalyan Samiti, an organization working at the grassroots level to ensure quality education, gender equality, and community empowerment for marginalized communities such as Dalits and Sahariyas in Madhya Pradesh, India.As a grassroots changemaker, I led a state-wide campaign demanding free menstrual pads in government schools across Madhya Pradesh — a movement that received support from over people. I am a Civic Fellow, the Indian School of Democracy alumni, participant of the She Represents program, and actively involved with Change.org India\'s campaigns for social justice and equity.I am also a proud member of the Varta Leap Community, which brings together powerful voices working for systemic change. My work is deeply rooted in the belief that true change begins when communities lead their own transformation.In recognition of my work in the field of education, I was selected as a Finalist in the Education Category for the prestigious CII Foundation Women Exemplar Award — a national platform that celebrates extraordinary women leaders driving social change at the grassroots.
