Hello! I\'m Reem, a passionate 2D animator with over 10 years of experience in the animation industry. My journey into animation wasn\'t a straightforward path, but one that has shaped me into the professional I am today.Professional Experience:* My professional journey began as a compositor at Bardel.* I went on to work at WildBrain on Carmen SanDiego as an animator and eventually joined Atomic Cartoons, where I\'ve spent the past 6+ years growing and thriving.* Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to wear many hats—animator, compositor, rigger, and now, animation supervisor—working on notable projects like TrollsTopia and Young Love.Skills & Expertise:* Animation & Rigging: My knowledge of rigging provides me with a deeper understanding of the mechanics behind the scenes, which enhances my animation work and enables me to optimize workflow across the pipeline.* Compositing: I continue to practice compositing on side gigs, blending my technical and creative skills to create polished, integrated shots.* Supervision: As an animation supervisor, I thrive in fast-paced environments. I’m adaptable, assess my team’s strengths and weaknesses, and assign work accordingly. I maintain open communication to solve interpersonal and technical issues promptly.Wild Animation Festival:I am excited to co-direct and help set up the Wild Animation Festival, a new animation festival in Princeton and Vancouver, BC. The festival aims to celebrate the diverse world of animation and provide a platform for both emerging and established animators to showcase their work.As a co-director, I’ve been involved in:* Event Planning & Coordination: I’ve been working closely with a team to ensure the festival runs smoothly, from start to finish.* Community Engagement: Building relationships with animators, industry professionals, and local partners to cultivate a thriving and inclusive animation community.* Creative Direction & Curation: Selecting the films and projects that best represent the vision of the festival, while fostering an environment where all types of animation—traditional, 2D, 3D, stop-motion, and more—are celebrated.* Marketing & Outreach: Developing strategies to promote the festival, attract attendees, and engage audiences through social media and partnerships.Teaching & Mentorship: In 2023, I was honoured to begin teaching 2D animation and rigging at Capilano University. This role challenged me to refine my techniques, simplifying complex concepts for my students while helping me grow as both an artist and a mentor.
