I work at the intersection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), CMMC requirements, and real-world operations.My focus is helping organizations that support the U.S. Department of Defense understand what it actually means to protect CUI — not in theory, but in daily practice across facilities, workflows, and people.CUI protection most often fails not because organizations lack intent, but because systems were never designed to scale trust. Policies exist, but physical environments, operational processes, and human behavior don’t always reinforce them. That gap is where most compliance and security risk lives.I spend my time translating official guidance from the DoD, the CUI Registry, and the CMMC framework (aligned to NIST SP 800-171) into practical, repeatable safeguards that hold up under assessment. This includes understanding how CUI flows through facilities, how physical and digital controls interact, and how ambiguity creates exposure.My approach is grounded in a few principles:1.
