ABOUT REECE EMMONS

My name is Reece Emmons, and I am a civil engineer at the University of Florida. Inspired by my studies and fueled by my passion for helping people, I want to push the innovation of sustainable infrastructure to new heights. I thrive off of new experiences and a social environment. My colleagues see me as someone who brings energy and positivity to any task. I am called to leadership, prioritizing to make others feel valued and heard while leading the team to excel towards a common goal. I am currently the president of a Christian organization, affiliated with the University of Florida, leading an executive team of 10 members, with the goal of providing humanitarian assistance and spiritual growth to college students and the surrounding community. I hope to blend my technical skills in civil engineering with interpersonal communication skills to provide the pinnacle of infrastructure to growing communities. I partake in Habitat for Humanity in Gainesville, which allows me to serve others in the pursuit of building strength, stability and self-reliance in families through a new home. I am able to further my academic understanding of materials and structural mechanics by seeing them constructed and bear stress in real time. Enhancing my understanding of CADD programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Open Road Designer as I further my expertise in real-world application. I am best at connecting with people, making the client feel not as a distant bystander, but an active voice in the decision process. Such an approach translates throughout the chain of leadership, empowering your peers to construct the best solution through teamwork. I am to be a civil engineer who makes a difference in the world by providing resilient infrastructure to growing cities. Working for a firm that prioritizes community, innovation, servant leadership, and sustainability. As a junior, I am looking for an internship to enrich my knowledge, encompass a greater understanding of leadership, and construct sustainable and innovative infrastructure. If you are equally interested in infrastructure, human-centered design, or their intersection, I would love to connect with you here on LinkedIn.
