Coach Red spent 22 years in education, guiding, helping, and coaching young people to reach their full potential and accomplish their goals whether it was being the first person in their family to earn a high school diploma, earning a college athletic scholarship or going to trade school. Coach Red has always put his students and their dreams first and foremost and has brought this same caring and nurturing attitude to his real estate business. He has always been guided by one of his favorite quotes, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you CARE!” He is passionate to work with people and coach them through the X’s and O’s of purchasing or selling a home. He knows this is potentially the largest financial decision of his client’s life and doesn’t take this responsibility lightly. Red Johnston was born and raised in Orlando. He attended Orange County Public Schools until ninth grade when his mom’s job transferred the family to South Florida. Upon graduating high school in 1987 Johnston returned to Orlando on a basketball scholarship to play at Valencia Community College where he played for two years before transferring to UCF to finish his degree. In August of 2010 Coach Red and his wife, who is also a teacher, moved their family overseas to teach for five years in Vietnam and China. They returned to the Orlando area for the 2015-16 school year before heading back overseas to teach and coach one final year in Morocco before returning for good in July 2017. Living abroad gave Coach Red and his family, which are bi-racial, an even better understanding and appreciation for different cultures, customs, sports and best of all, food. After returning from overseas Coach Red obtained his real estate license and starting his career in real estate in March of 2018. With this understanding of various cultures, it was an easy decision for Coach Red to complete his “At Home With Diversity” Certification through the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Coach Red is married to his wife Iggy of 19 years, and they have two beautiful daughters, Ahnika 16 and Aryona, 14.
