ABOUT REBECCA SHEFFIELD
Dr. Rebecca Sheffield is a teacher, professor, researcher, and subject-matter expert in the field of blindness and visual impairment. She is an experienced advocate for local, national, and international issues of importance to people with disabilities. In her position as Education Program Specialist in the Research to Practice Division of the Office of Special Education Programs at the U.S. Department of Education, she serves as project officer for a range of federal investments in programs and services and technical assistance to support students with disabilities and their families and teachers. Previously, Rebecca served as the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments for the St. Thomas-St. John School District in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Rebecca also designed and taught graduate courses to prepare future teachers of students with visual impairments for university programs across the United States, and she was the Senior Policy Researcher for the American Foundation for the Blind.
