ABOUT REBECCA PETERS
Dr. Rebecca Peters a civil servant leader at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where she advances U.S. national security priorities by accelerating scientific innovation and applications. With a decade of experience connecting diplomatic, defense, and scientific communities, she applies Earth science to address global challenges. Her prior experience includes serving as the Senior International Water Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of State and on the World Bank Inspection Panel, as well as fellowships with the Aspen Tech Policy Hub, Chatham House Academy, and the Luce Scholarship at the Asian International Rivers Center in Yunnan, China.She earned a doctorate from the University of Oxford, dual M.Sc. degrees in political economy and water science as a Marshall Scholar, and Berkeley B.A. and B.Sc. as a Truman Scholar and Fellow of Berkeley Law. Rebecca serves on the faculty at Georgetown University\'s Walsh School of Foreign Service and has published in Scientific American, Foreign Affairs, and The World Today. In July 2024, she joined a 30-person crew from nine countries to complete a 350km source-to-sea expedition of the Zambezi, the fourth longest river in Africa.
