About Rebecca White

I am a graduate of Roger Williams University, where I earned a bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations. I also graduated from Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts, earning a certification in Graphic and Web Design. I have always been an artistic, visual person and enjoy being a graphic designer but my true passion is in prevention, educating youth and helping others. When I was 14 years old I was a victim in a drunk driving crash, which changed the course of my life forever. I wanted to do something to prevent future drunk driving crashes from happening so I began publicly speaking about my crash and how it impacted my life. I also became very involved with Mothers Agents Drunk Driving in Rhode Island and as a victim advocate I was the co-coordinated of MADD RI youth conference called TeamSpirit. In 2018 I accepted a new role as program coordinator for a brand new youth leadership program in Rhode Island called YOUTH FORCE. YOUTH FORCE was led by The Rhode Island Police Chiefs\' Association (RIPCA) and supported by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), Office On Highway Safety. In 2020 this traffic safety program transitioned over to YOUTH DRIVEN and is now led by the Rhode Island Students Assistance Services,(RISAS). The mission of our traffic safety program is to provide Rhode Island youth and their adult advisors with the motivation, information, skills and support necessary to organize events and activities that support Traffic Safety efforts within their communities. Safety campaigns targeting distracted driving, impaired driving, and speeding, as well as, alcohol and drug free prevention strategies are examples of planned topic areas to be covered. This is a year round high school program. It begins with an educational summit scheduled for August 2021. Over the course of the 3 and half day summit school and community teams will create action plans to take back to their schools and communities to implement over the course of the school year.
