ABOUT REBECCA A. HOPKINS

Rebecca Hopkins is an international development professional who has managed programs in high-risk, post-conflict countries across Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Most recently, Rebecca served with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Colombia, monitoring $1 billion of investments focused on mitigating northbound migration, de-incentivizing coca growing, and facilitating private sector growth. She also served as the Chief of Staff for Prosper Africa, a presidential initiative designed to increase two-way trade between the United States and Africa. In this role, she managed a budget of $173 million and supervised the strategy and operations for an international team of more than 20, developing $15.7 billion in trade and investment commitments with private sector partners. She earlier spent seven years with USAID designing and providing development assistance in Syria, including investments of $100 million into water, agriculture, electricity, and health care, to forestall the resurgence of ISIS. Rebecca holds a Master of Public Affairs and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BA in International Studies from Emory University. She speaks Spanish and Arabic.
